1) Why use Fax Ad?

In the simplest terms, Fax Ad gives clients the biggest bang for their bucks! If you consider printed advertising, a single A4 sized advert can cost anywhere between R10,000 up to R100,000 depending on the newspaper publication. In many cases the circulation numbers are limited and the cost can end up being very high per target reader. You also have no way of realistically knowing whether the circulation base forms part of your target reader and this is especially true in cases where you are marketing a specific product / service.

Fax Ad also allows clients to choose prospects by area (town) and business classification. This can be an extremely valuable tool when your product / service is quite specialised. Regular monthly publications / price lists / specials / newsletters etc can also be quickly and cheaply distributed to an existing client base thereby offering an additional marketing / sales channel that is quick and easy to maintain.

Finally, Fax Ad continually screens and updates its database thereby ensuring the effectiveness of campaigns and enabling clients to target relevant prospects.

2) How do you obtain your database?

Fax Ad uses a number of methods to build and maintain its database. The primary method is using existing printed and online resources such as business directories, classified newspapers, industry associations and websites. The process is quite labour intensive however this ensures the accuracy of our database.

3) What if someone wants to de-register from receiving faxes?

There are 3 ways in which recipients can de-register from receiving faxes:

1) Send an email to admin{at}faxad.co.za with the heading ''Unsubscribe'' and the relevant fax number. this number is then added to a master Unsubscribe list against which all future campaigns are checked against to ensure unsubscribe requests are honoured;

2) Fax the received fax advert back to 086 577 2673 from the fax machine which is to be unsubscribed;

3) Contact the relevant company included on the Fax Advert and request to be removed - these details are then forwarded on to FaxAd.

As with email marketing where recipients must be allowed to unsubscribe from a distribution list, Fax Ad offers 3 quick and easy method for recipients to stop receiving faxes. Depending on the unsubscribe request chosen, numbers are removed from the database within 1 - 3 days of receipt.

4) What is the maximum number of faxes that can be sent?

Fax Ad utlises a powerful bulk fax sending system which incorporates hundreds of outbound fax lines which can operate 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Once a fax design is completed, the distribution list chosen and the broadcast queued, the process is relatively quick and is handled entirely electronically. So the number of faxes is only limited by the amount the clients wants to spend, or by the maximum size of the database.

5) How do I design the fax?

In most cases clients have in-house or out-sourced media designers who pre-design the fax and just submit these designs either as pdf's, jpeg's, or as word documents.

We are happy to help with the design of the fax campaign when required, however, depending on the complexity of the artwork, designers may need to be used which may incur a small additional charge which will be discussed with the client before progressed.

6) What format must the faxes be sent in?

The fax can be sent in a number of formats (pdf, jpeg, word doc, gif etc) and as in most cases it will be submitted to the bulk fax sending system electronically which accepts most electronic formats.

7) How are the faxes sent?

Once the fax design has been approved it is just a case of queuing the fax in the bulk fax sending system. The fax is then sent to the distribution list over the next few hours. With fax numbers that are engaged or busy, up to three attempts are made to send the fax failing which a failed send is logged and no further attempt at sending to the busy number is made. There are instances where fax numbers are engaged, busy, not available or the fax number has been dis-connected (for example an account may be unpaid, a business closed or re-located)

8) What is the process to set up a fax campaign?

The process is quite simple - design a fax, choose your target audience (by area and/or business classification), pay for the fax campaign and that's it. We will carry out the broadcast and report back on the number of successful faxes sent and unsuccessful sends. There is usually a small percentage of fax numbers that are not sent successfully due to being engaged or dis-connected, and in these instances your broadcast is topped up to your required amount.

9) How quickly can a campaign be completed?

A Fax campaign usually takes around 2-3 days to complete depending on how long the fax design takes and how quickly payment is made. That said, we have been able to roll out a fax campaign within 1 hour!

10) What kind of response rate can I expect?

The response rate for each campaign will vary depending on a large number of factors such as: the layout of the fax, the type of product / service being offered, the targetted fax group, the time of month/year the fax is sent, the attractiveness of the fax offer (i.e. 50% discount vs 5% discount) etc. Response rates from previous campaigns can vary from 2% up to 25% depending on the factors mentioned previously.

11) Isn't Bulk Faxing just another unwanted direct marketing method like spam / pamphlets etc?

There are a number of differences between Fax Ad and other direct marketing methods.

- Fax Ad allows recipients to quickly and easily de-register from our database - spam email and junk mail will continue being sent to you regardless of whether you want it or not.

- Fax Ad aims to put businesses in touch with the right people through pre-defined business classifications.

- Fax Ad deliberately limits the number of faxes sent to the database.

- Fax Ad will not send faxes for products / services that it feels do not offer it's database something useful.

- Fax Ad is a member of the Direct Marketing Association (DMA) and as such is committed to following a code of conduct which includes actively honouring unsubscribe requests and maintaining a database of these, including those numbers included on the DMA's Do Not Contact  (DNC) list.

12) How do I know if the faxes have been sent?

After each fax campaign we provide our clients with a summary showing how many faxes were sent and how many were not. To view a sample broadcast results report CLICK HERE. We ensure that the required quota of faxes to be sent is always met. The bulk fax broadcasting system cannot be tampered with and the sending report is generated based on the actual sending results and this is what the client receives. It is not in our interests to try and 'fudge' results as this will reduce the effectiveness of our clients campaigns and our goal is to continually improve the effectiveness of each campaign through higher response rates.

13) Why not do the fax broadcasting myself or via an email to fax service?

Carrying out a fax campaign yourself can be extremely time consuming and labour intensive and the tracking of which faxes were successfully sent can prove to be tricky too. Alternatively, using an email to fax service can also prove to be expensive as faxes are charged per minute and any obsolete fax numbers, or numbers that are in fact telephone numbers are charged as successful fax sends even though no fax is sent. This then dramatically increases the cost per fax sent. In some cases, buying fax number lists from unreliable sources can result in a telephone / fax number ratio of up to 50%. This then more than doubles the cost per successful fax sent as a portion of fax numbers normally are not successful due to numbers being engaged or inactive. Through using Fax Ad our clients not only benefit from a quality fax number database, ensuring a high successful fax transmission rate, but also do not have to absorb the cost of any telephone numbers present or inactive / busy fax numbers.

14) What is your De-register rate?

Of every 1000 faxes sent, we receive an average of 2 de-register requests. We are very proud to have a such a low de-register rate which we believe is because we carefully match our clients advertising requirements to that of our customer base, while also ensuring no duplicates in our database, along with monitoring and spreading the number of faxes broadcast between our database. We are also vigilant in recording those fax numbers that wish to be removed.

15) How many fax numbers do you have in total?

Our latest count includes 425,000 fax numbers through out South Africa .

16) Do you broadcast Internationally?

YES - We also broadcast for some of our clients in the UK, USA, Australia and a number of other countries. in many cases the cost to broadcast is comparable to South African broadcast rates, although these costs can vary alot depending on the country being targetted.
